Exterior Box Dimensions: 16"L x 4"W x 6.Oversizing the siphon is usually the biggest issue people have with BA and sometimes makes modifications like lowering the siphon well below the open. Normally the primary drain is full siphon and water level in the overflow come right up to the edge of the secondary drain. Skimmer Box Dimensions: 16"L x 1.25"W x 4"H I have an Innovative Marine 75 Int with a Bean Animal overflow.Primary & emergency drain bulkheads perfect for Herbie style drains.Do not join any of the drains together, ever. In a Bean Animal drain setup, 99 of the flow should be going down your main siphon, only a trickle down the secondary and nothing flowing down the emergency. Front and back lid cover included to quiet noise There is no Durso drain technically in a Bean Animal, a Durso drain is its own type of drain setup.3/8” thick acrylic mounting wall and base on exterior box.Entire skimmer box pulls off for routine maintenance.Works with rimless, eurobrace, and standard trim aquariums.Slim and compact design to suit any aquarium set-up.The larger 1,600 GPH and 2,400 GPH models include three drains to accommodate a Bean Animal style overflow setup for the ultimate in safe, reliable, and super-quiet overflows. Build quality is top-notch with solid construction and a nice tight fit on all components, and each overflow is designed with multiple drains for redundancy and safety. At 3000 the system was still nearly silent, but did introduce some bubbles into the drain. This also provides easy access to the tank bulkhead and just makes overall maintenance easier.įiji Cube also includes a guide template for drilling so that you can get the bulkhead hole positions and water level just the way you want it without any worry. I tested the system at 3000 GPH, 2000 GPH and 700 GPH. There are no annoying bulkhead nuts to remove in tight spaces, so you don't have to worry about completely undoing your dry-side plumbing if you need to remove the weir. One full siphon, one partial /secondary drain, and one emergency. I didnt have enough space for all the plumbing because 1.5' is pretty large in the grand scheme of things so I reduced the plumbing inside. I have 5 holes in the overflow 3 of which are used for Bean Animal and they are 1.5' with 2 being returns that are 1'. Has become more a generic name for 3 drain system. Having said that I actually had to do the same thing with the 210 Im setting up now. Bean animal is named after the guy who created it. The wet side can be easily removed for cleaning or other servicing needs, and slides back in just as easily. The tanks drain-holes/bulkheads go into the overflow box, then the Bean Animal style overflow drains go to the sump. The wet side overflow box is among the slimmest on the market, but what really sets it apart is the ease of servicing and maintenance that they built into their surface-skimming weirs with a removable, o-ring sealed interface that slides into the bulkhead. jonelder68 Reef Aquarium Discussion Replies 4 Views 387. We were immediately impressed by the thoughtful design and unique features of Fiji Cube's overflow boxes. If you look at Beans design in the link above, the full siphon is the one that gets the majority of the flow and is the one that NEEDS the gate valve for adjusting. I would continue to use the 2x.75" lines in each overflow as a return from sump to the tank (pressure side of the pump).Fiji Cube's unique design takes low-profile overflows to the next level! So normally you run it with the water about 1/2' down, just up to the top of the secondary drain (again, controlled by cranking down the gate valve on the full siphon). If I add an additional wet to each one then it becomes a Bean. The bean animal that came built into my tank has the secondary 1/2' down, emergency 1/4' down, and full siphon about 1.5' down. My thought was I would use the existing 1.5" drains for emergency overflows and add the full siphon drains (1", 1.25" or 1.5") to each overflow. But to do that I need to have an emergency drain. Modified 'Bean Animal' Overflow Drain Test - YouTube Policy & Safety How YouTube works Test new features NFL Sunday Ticket © 2023 Google LLC I tested the system at 3000 GPH, 2000 GPH and 700. So I decided I wanted to rework everything and go to full siphon drains. When I did my initial plumbing and leak test I could get the durso's quiet but the drains in the sump where very noisy & full of bubbles (which will cause salt creep). 75" returns are up close to the front of trapezoid close to where the sides meet it. The 1.5" drain is about dead center in the trapezoid and the 2x. The overflows are shaped like an Isosceles Trapezoid with the long side being part of the back wall of the aquarium. The water level in the overflow usually seems to end up about mid-way across the secondary tubes elbow. Each overflow has a 1.5" durso drain and 2 x. Your emergency looks like it may be a bit high.
